‘I can hear the birds, the sounds of the chickens and the dogs barking, it’s great’

growing our own

On our allotment we grow enough fresh vegetables and fruit to feed our students most of the year round. We store and freeze food so we don’t have to eat it all at once. We also make pickles, sauces and chutneys which we can keep for longer. Sometimes we have such big harvests that students can take vegetables home with them.

caring for nature

We don’t just grow food, we also want to protect and enrich our local ecosystems. We plant trees, sow wild flowers and create wildlife habitats. Stepping stones is a john muir award provider and many of us have received awards for our ecological work.
